Business Development Services do have two components:

• Business Services Delivery to the operators

• Effectif organizational development of BDS providers and facilitating agencies.

Business Services Delivery cannot be done without an effectif organization and personnal trained in planning, implementation and evaluation of its organization and services.

The BDS delivery is to be done by the following steps:

• Take regulary contact with the operators in their workshops

• Discuss their situation and main problems

• Document the data on a situation analysis overview

• Develop a three month action plan with all operators to be served

• Put it into practice with the help of BDS providers and other facilitating agencies.

• Services should be paid within the financial capacities of the operators on cost sharing or cost recovery basis.

Steps:

Situation - Problems - Proposals - Documentation - Action - Evaluation

• The organizational development should be implemented in a similar manner as BDS delivery:

• Visit to the organization concerned

• Situation analysis with the personnal

• Identify with them the main weaknesses and strenghts of the organization and its personnal

• Write a three month organization development action plan

• Put it into practice and evaluate it after three months.

Material:

The steps may be followed by a folder to be filled by the personnal and with the actions agreed, example given:

• Presentation of the organization (presentation brochure)

• Job description of the personnal

• Case studies of operators

• Records on BDS support to operators

• Three months time tables for action planning

• Three months activity reports
