New Publication on Taxation A new publication on taxation has been edited by the Ethiopian BDS Network together with the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce. The publication is available at the Ethiopian Chamber, the Megabook stores and the University book shop and gives information on the following issues: - Direct taxes: tax on income, business profit tax, income from rental buildings, income on deposits, dividend income tax, income from royalties, agricultural income tax and others - Indirect taxes: turnover tax, excise tax, VAT, customs duty. - Categories of tax payers: Declaration of income and tax assessment - Tax incentives - Views of the business community - Future plans for taxation. |

Assisting unemployed TVET graduates for self-employment The Ethio-German MSE Development Project together with the Ethio-German TVET Program and Gullele Subcity of Addis Ababa launched a new initiative in favour of unemployed TVET graduates in the construction sector. 36 unemployed graduates have been assisted to create their own companies, to get business license, premises, loans for equipment and markets. It is expected that this intervention will be expanded to other subcities and the regions. New Webpages on sector-specific Data The Ethiopian BDS Network launched new webpages with sector-specific issues for the textile/garment, leather/footwear, food processing and construction sectors. The sector-specific webpages are under construction and will be finalized until end of June including documents on value chain development and sector studies.
