The first national Ethiopian Business Directory just published!
The Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce (ECC) launching the 2006 edition of the Ethiopian Business Directory presents the Directory on CD-ROM and printed Publication. The first national Business Directory has been produced in collaboration with the Ethio-German ECC-HWK Partnership Project, the Ethio-German Micro and Small Enterprise Development Project (GTZ) and UNDP.

The Business Directory can be purchased at the Ethiopian Chamber's Head office and at each of the 15 City Chambers. In addition to the main directory of companies, please find the specific Directories of: Business names index, Advertizers index, Exporters index, Business associations, Financial institutions, City Chambers of Commerce, Private Sector Development (PSD) related International Projects, PSD related Websites.

by the Bahir Dar Chamber of Commerce shows the potential of services that
can be provided with only one BDS facilitator and a basic budget.

Every six months the Bahir Dar BDS facilitator selected 10 enterprises to be supported for the next five months. Together, they made a situation analysis, action plan and started implementation. In addition to that, the BDS facilitator organised meetings with more than 100 local enterprises and succeded to negotiate with the tax authority to review their tax assessment as a result of which some 333 businesses benefited from tax reduction.
Unfortunately the Bahir Dar
Chamber stopped the BDS intervention after two runs
because of lack of finance even for one regular business advisor only!
One more reason for a sustainable financial solution for the Ethiopian Chamber structure!
Compulsory membership would
be
an appropriate solution for sustainable
chamber finance -
already applied in numerous countries!
