Structure

After its proclamation ReMSEDA has began its function at the mid of January, 2001 by appointing general manager.  ReMSEDA at regional Level has the following organizational structure, which have professional and supportive staff.

  • Three line departments; which are training, information & Consultancy, facilitation
    & information

  • Two functional services; planning and programming, finance and administration.

  • Three one man representative working units; i.e. auditor, attorney, public officer under the general manger office.

Objectives of the agency

  • To create an enabling environment for the micro and small enterprises to be  responsible for the operation, growth and progress of their own enterprises.

  • To co-ordinate and encourage supporting institutions, and facilitate other conditions by which micro and small enterprises can get the necessary support and assistance so that they can grow, expand and play their part to bring about equitable economic growth and development within the region.

  • To tackle poverty by creating long-term and sustainable job opportunities, and minimising the number of unemployees.

  • To strength co-operation between micro and small enterprises, and provide the basis formedium and large scale enterprises.

  • To balance preferential treatment between micro and small enterprises and bigger enterprises, and promote export.

  • To develop the capacity of creativeness, promote entrepreneurship idea, and increase the capacity of production in terms of quantity and quality.

Target Support Measures and Beneficiaries

  • Small manufactures, which focus on food, textiles, leather, clothing, metalwork and other crafts.

  • Start-ups and expanding firms with particular emphasis to those owned by women.

  • Small enterprises, in drought areas

  • Agro-business and small scale farming and fishing

  • Small builders/contractors

  • Small exporters revealing comparative advantage

  • Small-scale tourism industry operators

  • The responsibility for support and assistance to micro and small enterprises falls upon a wide range of organizations, associations and agencies.

  • These include:

  • Federal Micro and Small Enterprises Development Agency

  • Trade and Industry Bureau

  • Co-operative promotion Bureau

  • Amhara Credit and Saving Institution

  • Works and Urban Development Bureau

  • Women Affairs office

  • Academic and Research Institutions
