Hydraulic
Ram Pump
The
pumps are powered by falling water. They are low head falls and lift
a smaller amount of the same water to a much higher level. The size
of pump is dedicated by the amount of fall. These pumps can pump
water up to a height of 100 meters. They can be powered by a fall
higher than 2 meters. The pumping rate per day can be between 14,000
and 500,00 liter/day depending on the flow and head. |

Water
Turbine
Water turbines utilize falling water to
produce shaft power which have been used for thousands of years.
This production of energy has a high efficiency compared to diesel.
Hydro power plants have a long life and offer similar potential to
most developing countries, with applications in village lighting,
mechanized food processing, and the supply of power to small-scale
industrial activities. The running costs are low compared to
thermal stations. The power output of the cross flow turbine
is between 5 and 250 KW, depending on flow and head.

Treadle
Pump
These
are foot operated pumps which can suck from 7 meters and pump water
up to a height of 7 meters. The pumping capacity can go up to 1800
lt/hr.

Wind
Pump
This
wind pump is a new design, tailored to the needs of developing
countries. The major advance of this machine is the low capital cost
for its size, while maintaining high strength a reliability.
Construction and testing of the first machine was carried out in the
UK, and is now in use in Asia, Africa and Europe. The aerodynamics
of the wind rotor have been optimized to provide high torque at low
speeds, thus allowing the use of a direct-drive transmission without
any risk of dynamic problems. With appropriate pumps, the machine
starts working with wind speed as low as 2.5-3m/sec. The automatic
storm protection mechanism furls the wind pump at wind speeds of
15m/sec or more. When the wind drops, the machine automatically
returns to normal operation. All bearings and structural components
are aimed to have a minimum of 20 years life time. Maintenance is
almost silent. The output is between 6-300m3 of water per
day.

Rope
and Washer Pump
This pumps require a
steady rotary power input which employees the use of a crank drive
with a flywheel. This makes it mechanically efficient and
comfortable to apply muscle power. These pumps can pump water
from rivers or wells and are applicable to heads ranging up to 25
meters. The output can reach 7000 lt./hr.
